What’s the role?
This role has primary responsibility for the day-to-day financial planning and strategy of Lumon Europe through the effective management of the company’s finances and control environment, including financial tax planning, management of financial risks, record keeping, and financial reporting. Of specific importance is leading and managing the investment strategy for customer assets in line with group and regulatory policy.
As a member of the local Executive Leadership Team (ELT) the successful candidate will be expected to lead by example through demonstrating alignment with our values; collaborate with ELT colleagues and contribute to wider organisational matters as well as providing advice and guidance on the company’s financial position, risks, and mitigation in line with regulatory requirements. This role would suit a senior finance manager who is looking to take on their first Head of Finance role, balancing the needs of the day-to-day finance operations with a strategic remit and exposure to wider group stakeholders.
So, what does that actually mean?
- Leads all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Development and maintenance of robust financial controls, procedures, and policies in line with Group Financial Control.
- Managing the resourcing and development of the finance function.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Building monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts to support investments across the European business and consolidation into group forecasts.
- Support to the Lumon Europe CEO in the development of strategies to increase return on investment and profitability of the European business.
- Collation and presents of financial reports to the local executive leadership team, board, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Knows and adheres to UK generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Securities and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs).
- Production and submission of regulatory returns to the CBI.
- Provision of support and assistance to Lumon Group finance projects and initiatives.
- Delivery of year end accounts and support of statutory audit and liaison with auditors.

What else will help you to succeed in this role?
- 5+ years’ post qualification experience; in-depth knowledge of investment, VAT treatment and taxation accounting
- 5+ years’ experience as a Senior Finance Manager or Controller of a substantial business division of a major corporate.
- Proven track record at Senior Management level
- Previous experience of working within a CBI regulated business
- Solution oriented; proven ability to successfully deliver in a complex environment
- Exceptional people leadership skills; able to motivate, develop and inspire people to deliver outstanding performance
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Collaborative stakeholder skills: able to establish and nurture relationships throughout the Society at all levels to assimilate information from all sources and make sound decisions based on the information available
- Analytical skills; able to absorb and interpret a wide range of data and information from across the business to craft strategies that deliver for today and the future
- Results-orientated; demonstrable experience in implementing company-wide strategies that drive financial performance
- Reporting and presentation skills; ability to convey complex information clearly and simply to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- Strategic mindset; demonstratable ability of developing business success within various economic climates
- Influencing skills; Able to listen and influence, persuade and challenge through weight of reasoning and gravitas rather than through a direct reporting line
- Resilience and energy; Possesses the emotional resilience and energy to navigate through complex, constantly changing situations
- Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills essential in order to meet tight deadlines.
Specific Regulatory Knowledge & Competencies
- For CBI regulatory purposes maintain appropriate knowledge of the ‘High Level Standards’ within the CBI’ Handbook of Rules and Guidance and be able to apply this knowledge in ensuring the Company fully complies with the regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of corporate governance and be able to apply this knowledge in ensuring the Company complies with legislation to the fullest extent
- Maintain knowledge of accounting regulations and be able to apply this knowledge in ensuring the Company complies with the requirements to the fullest extent
